The man behind Percolator Creative is
Jim Lautenbach, who believes it is perfectly acceptable to judge a person by his or her latest work. More important than years of experience, a list of specific current clients or a handful of exaggerated promises are cutting-edge graphics that get results. His work speaks for itself. See samples here.

That is not to say he lacks credentials. Already possessing a keen eye and sense of design, he earned a magna cum laude degree in journalism from Marquette University in 1995. While at Marquette he was editor of the campus magazine and was recognized as one of the top student designers in the nation, winning First Place in the Columbia Scholastic Press Association 1993 Gold Circle Awards.

He has always been able to combine images and words into striking layouts. His time at Marquette honed his ability to create concise, clever and creative copy — which, he attests, is an art unto itself.

Since then, he has had experience in a diversity of settings and capacities. Right out of college, he coordinated the public image of a progressive, youth-oriented nonprofit program in Milwaukee. He then joined Advo, Inc., the nation's leading direct mail firm, and designed four-color pieces that were circulated nationwide. More recently, he was Print Coordinator for a local design agency.

Throughout his career, he has done freelance projects for notable groups and causes, including startup community improvement projects, land preservation efforts and Second Harvest Food Bank of Wisconsin. He especially relishes opportunities to work on cause-related pieces and for arts groups.

When he's not doing graphics work, Jim is a performer. You might catch him acting, singing or dancing on a stage close to you. Recent roles include Vinnie in The Odd Couple, Judah in Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Hortensio/Litio in Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew. If you're a New York theater producer (or a Door County community theater director), click here for a headshot and resume. Everyone else can check back in this space from time to time for news about upcoming performances!

Simply put, Jim loves what he does. He enjoys partnering in different types of endeavors and enterprises and getting as excited as you are about them. Put his expertise, energy and unmatched creativity to work for you!
